NeoTribal: New paintings by Mateo Romero

His first show in our new Scottsdale location!

SANTA FE, N.M./Scottsdale, AZ [December 13, 2010] – Santa Fe artist, Mateo Romero constantly re-defines “the contemporary Native American voice” through art. His mixed media creations employ bold brushwork, saturation of color, and photo collage to grant the viewer passage into a world of deeply felt ritual and symbology. Blue Rain Contemporary in Scottsdale, AZ is proud to announce an exciting show of new works by Mateo Romero on display February 3 – 15, 2011 with an artist reception Thursday, February 3rd from 7 – 9pm.

In addition to the works he has become known for over the years, Romero will explore electrifying new concepts that are bound to garner attention. This thrilling new show titled, Neotribal, takes on a dynamic, Pop Art inspired, “two worlds” theme. It is the dichotomy between traditional and contemporary for the Native American person, analogue and digital, past and present. Romero uses drawings of Rio Grande Pueblo dancers juxtaposed with strong pop icon imagery to accomplish this idea. Do not miss this exciting new show!
