New Paintings by Jim Vogel
A Slice of Life Along the Historic Chili Line of New Mexico

Scottsdale, AZ / Santa Fe, NM [December 20, 2011] –Blue Rain Gallery is proud to announce an exciting show of new works in oil by Regional painter, Jim Vogel on display at Blue Rain Contemporary in Scottsdale, AZ February 2 – 18, 2012 with an artist reception Thursday, February 2nd from 7 – 9pm.

Several of Vogel’s new paintings grip a common idea: set nearly sixty years ago along the spur rail lines (narrow track rails connecting rural villages to the main line), Vogel paints a fictitious New Mexico, a New Mexico of his imagination. Each painting offers the viewer a “slice of life” as we visit characters as common as a Blacksmith in his shop, hearty men playing poker outside the local bar, or even a husband and wife sheering sheep while their child plays nearby. The paintings themselves are vibrant vignettes with narratives that pull compellingly at our heartstrings as we yearn for and remember a simpler time.

Jim Vogel lives and creates art in rural northern New Mexico where the local landscape and the local people continue to infuse his work with the heart and idealism of the area. Vogel is arguably one of the most recognized Regional painters of our day!
